Hugh Jackman’s friendship with Ivanka Trump is reportedly not going down well with his girlfriend Sutton Foster. President Trump’s daughter Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner have maintained a solid friendship with the Wolverine star for over a decade now. However, it has reportedly “hit a nerve” with Jackman’s current partner, Sutton Foster, as per a source.
Hugh Jackman’s friendship with Ivanka Trump affecting Sutton Foster, sources suggest
Sources shared with Rob Shuter that Sutton Foster isn’t a fan of Hugh Jackman’s friendship with Ivanka Trump and her husband. This has reportedly created a wedge between the couple. The source dished, “Hugh and Ivanka go way back. This isn’t some casual Hollywood friendship. They’ve stayed genuinely close for years, and that relationship has never really changed.”
However, Foster’s politics are reportedly completely different from Ivanka’s, and Jackman’s friendship with the political couple has reportedly left her feeling uneasy. The insider explains, “Sutton’s politics are very different. She’s vocal about where she stands, and the Ivanka-Jared circle is not a world she feels comfortable in — socially or politically.”
In fact, recently the Australian star performed at Rupert Murdoch’s recent birthday celebration. The event was packed with people endorsing conservative politics, and unsurprisingly, Foster was absent. The source added, “That room was never going to be Sutton’s scene. And seeing Hugh so comfortable in that crowd — especially with Ivanka there — definitely hit a nerve.”
However, sources tied to Rob Shuter insist the couple care about each other a lot and are working on their differences. The source stated, “They care deeply about each other. But when politics enters the conversation, it can get tense fast. That’s where the real sparks fly.”
In a previous interview with Vanity Fair, the Wolverine star defended his friendship with Ivanka. He asked rhetorically, “People question, ‘Really?’ And I’m kinda like, ‘OK, let’s say your friends’ father became president.’ Whether you agree with the politics or not, do you just dump your friends? I’m like, ‘no, no you don’t.’ I don’t understand that.”
