Jimmy Kimmel, one of Donald Trump’s most enduring critics, recently sat down with famed boxing legend Mike Tyson. During the conversation, Kimmel grilled Tyson about his frequent trips to Mar-a-Lago, President Donald Trump’s Florida resort. Despite their clashing ideologies, the two personalities got along well and shared some moments of heartfelt laughter.
Jimmy Kimmel questions Mike Tyson about Mar-a-Lago
Jimmy Kimmel recently spoke to Mike Tyson on his show. Kimmel seemed confounded by how the boxing legend was such a big part of the MAGA universe.
“Do you ever go to Mar-a-Lago when you’re in Florida?” Kimmel asked Tyson, who responded, “All the time, all the time.” Kimmel responded, “Why are you going there? What goes on there? What could possibly be fun about it? I was there once, and I’ve never seen older people in my life.” When Tyson asked when Kimmel went there, Kimmel said, “Believe me, I’m not allowed there anymore.”
But Tyson seemed to hold the place in high regard. “Mar-a-Lago is one of the best places in the world to be and hang out,” he added.
Kimmel took a little dig at the boxer, asking, “So now you’re kind of part of the Trump administration, right?” But Tyson responded, “You believe that? Hey, I’ve got too many felonies—that can’t be.”
Responding to this, Kimmel said, “I have a feeling he’s got more than you do,” referring to Trump. Tyson said, “I never thought about it that way.”
Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. had recruited Tyson to feature in the Super Bowl ad about the dangers of processed food. “You’ve known Trump since the ’80s, when you used to have fights at his casinos. But now you’re working with Robert Kennedy Jr. on one of the few not-crazy projects he has, which is encouraging people to eat healthy,” Kimmel said about this.
“I lost my sister at 25 from obesity. That’s a trigger for me. When I see somebody that may be obese, it’s just a bad experience,” Tyson replied.
The two evidently had different political stances but shared mutual respect throughout the time.
