Kodak Black Arrested Over Felony Drug Trafficking Allegations — Report

Headlines are shifting toward Florida, where a familiar name in hip-hop faces scrutiny once more. According to reports, Kodak Black was arrested in Orange County on alleged felony drug trafficking charges. The arrest has the industry talking, with fans and peers watching for what comes next.

Kodak Black reportedly booked on drug trafficking charge and arrested

Deputies processed and booked rapper Kodak Black, whose legal name is Bill Kapri, into Orange County Jail on Wednesday, May 6. He is facing a first-degree felony charge of trafficking between 10 and 200 grams of MDMA, the drug commonly known as ecstasy or molly.

On Thursday, May 7, the 28-year-old filed a written plea of not guilty and asked for a jury trial. He also waived his appearance at a future arraignment in state court. A judge set his bond at $75,000. Bradford Cohen, his attorney, has described the arrest as a “coordinated surrender” tied to a case from November.

According to a police report, officers responded to a neighborhood after residents reported gunshots. At the scene, they found a group gathered around parked luxury SUVs, including Kapri. An officer detected the odor of cannabis coming from a Lamborghini SUV and saw a white substance on a $100 bill inside, establishing probable cause for a search. According to the police report, officers found a pink bag during the search. Inside was a plastic bag containing MDMA, $37,000 in cash, and several documents with Kapri’s name.

According to investigators, the pink bag containing a distinctive lighter matched one depicted in a photograph posted to Bill Kapri’s Instagram account. The police report indicates that all individuals present denied ownership of the bag. Kapri also denied owning it but stated the $37,000 inside was business revenue and requested its return.

“I will be fighting the charge,” Bradford Cohen said in a statement to USA TODAY. “This is an ongoing theme where cases that would normally not be filed due to a weak legal basis are filed against Mr. Kapri. We look forward to yet another fruitful resolution to another case that should have never been filed.”
