Stephen Colbert Planning a Late-Night Crossover Before Show’s End — Report

Stephen Colbert is reportedly planning a mega late-night reunion before his show ends. For those unversed, Colbert’s late-night talk show is scheduled to end on Thursday, May 21. His final episode marks the end of his 11-season tenure, and what better way to bid adieu than an Avengers-style crossover episode?

Stephen Colbert reportedly eyeing a Late-Night reunion before his show ends

Stephen Colbert reportedly intends to host a late-night reunion before his show ends. He is set to welcome four other late-night hosts to The Late Show in a reunion of Strike Force Five. According to Latenighter.com, CBS has yet to confirm these reports. However, multiple sources told the outlet that Seth Meyers strongly hinted at the reunion episode during an audience Q&A.

According to sources, Meyers apparently announced that he, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, and John Oliver are set to appear on Colbert’s show on Monday, May 11. Notably, if it turns out to be true, it will mark the first time all five hosts will appear together on a single late-night stage.

The group famously first teamed up on Strike Force Five. Notably, it was a 12-episode podcast launched during the 2023 writers’ strike. The podcast proved not only a huge source of joy and comfort for fans but also was designed to raise money for unemployed staffers. Unsurprisingly, the podcast became a chart-topping hit on Spotify and Apple.

Not only that, but David Letterman, the original host of The Late Show, will be Colbert’s guest on May 14. Notably, Letterman handed over the reins of The Late Show to his successor, Colbert, in 2015 (via Variety). Other guests who are touted to appear on Colbert’s show are John Krasinski, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Pedro Pascal, and Tom Hanks.

However, this is not the only thing keeping Colbert occupied. The late-night talk show host is penning the next installment in The Lord of the Rings franchise. It is no secret that Colbert is a huge fan of the famed fantasy series.
