Late Night with Seth Meyers will be taking a lengthy break from NBC’s schedule. The show will be off the air for nearly two months following its July 30 episode. New episodes are set to return on September 21.
The hiatus marks the longest planned break for Seth Meyers’ show
The Late Night X account appeared to confirm the hiatus with a post that read, “See you in the fall! September tickets for Late Night with @sethmeyers are now LIVE at latenightsethtickets.com!”
According to OK! Magazine, NBC will fill the gap with repeat episodes before Late Night with Seth Meyers returns for its 14th season. However, Comedy Central will no longer include the show in its programming lineup, reports The Sun.
The hiatus is notably longer than Meyers’ usual breaks. His previous breaks generally lasted three to four weeks, excluding the five-month shutdown during the 2023 writers’ strike. The break will mark the longest planned hiatus in the show’s history since it premiered in February 2014.
The decision has now prompted a strong reaction from viewers. A netizen wrote, as per The Sun, “AHHHH! That’s so long. Who am I going to spend my lunch breaks with for two months?”
Another commented, “I think we’re watching the last generation of late-night hosts on the networks. Ad money isn’t there to support it, and viewer habits have changed.”
Although the show will be on hiatus, Meyers will continue to remain active with a series of live engagements, reports OK! Magazine. The comedian has nearly a dozen events planned during the extended break.
The lineup includes stand-up performances across the Northeast, as well as two live editions of his Family Trips podcast with his brother, Josh Meyers. He is also set to perform at venues in Cape Cod, Nantucket, and Martha’s Vineyard.
