Donald Trump Promotes Bold Claim About Bible Knowledge Over Pope Leo

President Donald Trump, who engaged in a series of exchanges with Pope Leo XIV over his stance on the Iran war, has promoted the controversial Baptist pastor’s claim that he has a better understanding of the Bible than the Pope. This comes shortly after Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with the pontiff to ease tensions between the US President and the Vatican.

President Donald Trump, who has been involved in a war of words with the Pope over the latter’s stance on the Iran war, has now amplified another controversial claim.

On his Truth Social account, Trump shared a Fox News clip in which controversial Baptist pastor Robert Jeffress claimed that the President has a better understanding of the Bible than the Pope. “The great irony is it looks like President Trump has a better understanding of what the Bible teaches about the role of government than the pope has,” Jeffress said. “And I’m glad the president hasn’t backed down at all.”

Jeffress praised the first US-born Pope as a “good man” before saying, “But he is sincerely wrong when it comes to Iran.” He further added that the Pope “ought to know” that the role of the church is to point people to faith in Jesus Christ, while the role of government is to protect citizens from evildoers, according to Romans 13.

This claim comes shortly after Secretary of State Marco Rubio visited the Pope in a bid to reduce tensions between President Donald Trump and the Vatican. Meanwhile, Trump has continued to criticize the Pope, including claiming that the pontiff supported Iran having nuclear weapons.

Rubio, meanwhile, told reporters in Rome that the meeting was “productive” and “very cordial” in nature.
