Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi is looking on the bright side amid her battle with cancer. The reality star revealed earlier this year that doctors found cancerous cells. Upon sharing this news, she also said that she had been dealing with abnormal pap smear results for years.
The mother of three says that she is afraid of what is to come. She is due to go in for a hysterectomy to treat her condition very soon.
The Jersey Shore star was diagnosed with Stage 1 cervical cancer
Cancer may be the most frightening word for anyone to hear. Months after hearing that word, Snooki is trying to use her diagnosis to help others.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, she says that “I’m in a good stage right now,” referring to the fact that her cervical cancer is in stage 1. Snooki had some advice while discussing her upcoming appointment. “Always keep on your appointment,” said the Jersey Shore alum. According to her, that is likely how she got the cancer to begin with.
Her recent comments are a sharp contrast to what she shared following her diagnosis. Around that time, she shared a worrisome video, appearing rather shaken up and uneasy about what was to come. Since then, it feels like she’s had a little more calmness while just taking things as they come.
Snooki admits no one wants to go to their pap smear appointments, adding that her situation could have been avoided. Her suggestion to women today is to “make sure you do your pap smear. Stay on top of your health.” By doing so, she is confidence they can prevent situations like the one she is currently facing.
Upon sharing her cancer diagnosis, Snooki said that she’d undergone a colonoscopy and then a biopsy. While she’s in a better place now, she hasn’t gotten there on her own. Snooki previously admitted that the support of her friends and family has given her a sense of calm about this situation.
