Elon Musk’s Frantic Criticism of Lupita Nyong’o Sparks Alec Baldwin Backlash

Elon Musk has been called out by Alec Baldwin for his racist comments on Christopher Nolan’s casting of Oscar-winning Lupita Nyong’o as Helen of Troy and her sister Clytemnestra in Nolan’s much-anticipated upcoming release, ‘The Odyssey.’

In his post on X, Musk agreed with conservative commentator Matt Walsh, who argued that Nolan’s casting of Nyong’o was motivated by awards politics. He wrote that Nolan has “lost his integrity” over his casting choices.

Alec Baldwin responds to Elon Musk’s odd criticism of The Odyssey and Lupita being cast

In response, Baldwin posted a stunning photo of the actress and said, “Dear Elon…but she IS the most beautiful woman in the world…Alec.”

Nolan told Time Magazine about his plans regarding the film, including casting Nyong’o as Helen of Troy. The actress plays the central character in Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey, where she launches the famous Trojan War. The character remains a symbol of the ultimate beauty and is often referred to as “the face that launched a thousand ships.”

Musk’s criticism has courted significant controversy and backlash, with many describing the remarks as historically inaccurate. By asserting that she is the most beautiful woman in the world, Baldwin shifts the narrative.

Whoopi Goldberg also came to Baldwin’s defense and directly attacked Musk on The View, saying, “I would suggest looking in a mirror if you have any concerns about people’s looks.”

The Odyssey is scheduled for release on July 17, 2026, and features a star-studded cast including Matt Damon as Odysseus, Anne Hathaway as Penelope, Tom Holland as Telemachus, Zendaya as Athena, Charlize Theron as Calypso, and Robert Pattinson as Antinous.
