It’s one of the last people we expected to see Chris Rock with.
The comedian has been divorced from Malaak Compton-Rock for over a decade, though the exes reunited over the weekend for a special event. Chris and Malaak in August 2016. Chris had admitted to infidelity during their time together while also having an addiction to porn.
They went through a contentious divorce, but that was all forgotten about for a moment last weekend. This was one of their two daughters who celebrated a big achievement.
The comedian and Malaak Compton-Rock celebrated their daughter’s graduation

Family comes first in the minds of the Rocks, as evidenced this past weekend. Chris and Malaak were on hand to watch their daughter, Zahra, graduate. The 21-year-old got high academic distinction and received her bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Southern California (USC). Malaak shared photos to mark the special occasion on her Instagram account.
According to Malaak, her daughter had a “lifelong love of literature.” That prompted her to study English at USC. Her concentration in school was in narrative studies. Malaak was gushing about Zahra’s achievements, expressing her gratitude for having such a “brilliant, thoughtful, compassionate young woman.”
Throughout the graduation weekend, Chris was sporting cool workwear, including a blue jacket. In the photos, though, he was much dressier, wearing a black pinstripe suit snapped from inside the stadium.
The relationship between Chris and Malaak dates to 1994 when they met at the Essence Magazine awards. She was a publicist at the time when the comedian crashed those awards ceremonies. Clearly, he made an impact on her as the two wed in 1996. They were husband and wife for 18 years.
Chris has been put in his share of what many would see as awkward situations in the past. Oscar fans will never forget when Will Smith slapped him on stage at the 2022 award show. Even former Real Housewives of New York City star Jill Zarin blasted Will for his antics.
As of April, Chris is in a relationship with DJ Simone Henault.
