Chet Hanks, son of A-list Hollywood star Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, has forsaken the luxurious Hollywood lifestyle to live a simple life in a trailer park in Nashville. The White Boy Summer anchor appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and defended his frugal lifestyle, saying that he has escaped the shallow life that Hollywood epitomizes.
Chet Hanks dishes on choosing a budget lifestyle in Nashville
Hanks said he didn’t want to rent an apartment because he already had a fully furnished condo in Los Angeles and noted it was a deliberate move to live a more grounded life.
“I just like having my own space,” he said. The singer added that staying in an RV and embracing the community has also helped him in his creative endeavors. Hanks clarified that the community is not “sketchy,” though it is meant mostly for retirees, and he is the youngest resident there by “30 or 40 years.”
Hanks addressed his critics about his lifestyle in an Instagram video. He explained that the RV is “f-king cheap” and serves his purpose. The singer also criticized the “hustle culture” of Hollywood that makes people chase “things” and not “experiences.” He explained, “What’s the f–king dream? To drive a Rolls-Royce? … Those are f–king things. Living your dream is a verb, not a f–king noun.”
Despite his wealthy background, Chet is enjoying sharing his experiences in a trailer park with his fans. He views the trailer park as an authentic background to his “White Boy Summer” persona.
Apart from pursuing music, Chet Hanks has also recently debuted his band, Something Out West, at the Stagecoach Music Festival, where his father, Tom Hanks, 69, could be seen enjoying the music.
While his high-profile parents remain supportive, Chet’s unexpected relocation has sparked curiosity among his social media followers.
