Khloé Kardashian is looking back on one pet-parenting decision with a heavy dose of regret. The reality star recently admitted that she had her two cats declawed years ago, revealing she didn’t fully understand what the procedure involved at the time.
The confession came during an episode of her “Khloé In Wonder Land” podcast, where she opened up about why she now believes the choice negatively affected her pets.
Apparently Khloé Kardashian did zero research ahead of having two cats declawed
While discussing life with her cats, Gray Kitty and Baby Kitty, Khloé acknowledged that she was “really misadvised” before agreeing to the procedure. “I was really misadvised about getting my cats declawed,” she said as per Page Six. “I’ve never owned cats before. I didn’t even know that was a thing.”
The Kardashian star admitted she feels responsible for some of her pets’ behavior today. “I feel really, really terrible that I did go in this direction,” she explained. “I feel like that’s why my cats are miserable, and it was at my doing.”
Khloé shares the cats with her daughter, True, and says she now worries constantly about their safety. Because the animals no longer have their claws, she believes they would struggle to defend themselves if they ever escaped outdoors.
“My cats wear AirTags,” she said. “They’re not allowed to even go near the door. I’m so afraid if they get out because they have no way to defend themselves.”
The admission quickly sparked debate online. Many listeners criticized the decision, noting that declawing has become increasingly controversial and is banned or heavily restricted in several places due to animal welfare concerns.
Some social media users expressed sympathy for the cats, while others questioned why the procedure was considered in the first place.
The conversation also revived criticism surrounding the Kardashian family’s treatment of pets over the years. Animal rights organization PETA previously called out Kim Kardashian over her pets, including criticism related to holiday puppy gifts and a past video showing dogs living in a garage area.
