Stephen Colbert jokes about Donald Trump’s T1 Gold Phone

Stephen Colbert will conclude his stint on CBS’s “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” on May 21. Recently, he tore into President Donald Trump and his family on the penultimate episode of his show. The network announced the cancellation in July 2025, citing financial unprofitability.

Colbert mocked President Donald Trump over his Trump Mobile “T1” smartphone.

“I like to give good news when we can give good news, and I have some wonderful news for my MAGA viewers,” he said. Colbert added that the “Trump golden cell phone” made its long-awaited arrival after a 9 month delay. He then continued, “Now, the only Trump item more disappointing after a nine-month wait was Eric. You know, I’ve said a lot of mean things about Eric over the years.”

The host continued after a pause, “As for the phone, let’s be clear, this thing sucks! When they announced the phone last year, the Trumps promised it would be made in the USA, but now that it’s here, brace yourself, it is no longer made in the USA.” He added, “The website now just says, ‘Designed with American values in mind.’ Oh that’s fine….Hey, hey that’s close enough, okay? It’s just like Arby’s slogan, ‘We have the meats… in mind.'”

Many fans on Instagram expressed their disappointment at Stephen Colbert’s departure. In fact, one user wrote, “Stephen will be missed!”. A second person commented, “There goes my hero…”.

“The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” concludes with one final episode on May 21.
