American rapper and singer-songwriter Wiz Khalifa is reportedly wanted by Romanian authorities over an incident that could land him in jail. The case underscores the sharp differences in drug policy that artists navigate abroad.
Wiz Khalifa has reportedly been added to ‘wanted’ list by Romanian authorities
Romanian authorities have reportedly placed Wiz Khalifa on a wanted list as part of an ongoing criminal investigation, though that designation no longer appears to be active.
On Wednesday, May 20, regional publication Mediafax reported that Khalifa had been placed on a Romanian police list due to an enforcement warrant connected to a drug-related prison sentence. The report also noted that his collaborative mixtape with mgk, Blog Era Boyz, releases this Friday.
A search of the Romanian Police database for Cameron Jibril Thomaz, Wiz Khalifa’s legal name, does return a photo and entry for the artist. However, opening the record displays a notice that “this alert is no longer active” as of this writing.

Last December, reports indicated Wiz Khalifa could face up to nine months in prison in Romania. The Constanta Court of Appeal issued a release confirming it had “ordered the conviction” of Wiz, accused by Romanian authorities of “illegal possession of dangerous drugs for personal consumption.”
The situation traces back to Khalifa’s appearance at the Beach, Please! Festival in Costinești during the summer of 2024. Following his performance, local authorities opened a criminal investigation. The rapper was detained and questioned before being released the same night.
In October 2024, officials announced that the 38-year-old had been indicted on drug charges in Romania tied to his July 2024 performance. He allegedly possessed and smoked marijuana during the event.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) that month, he described the show as “amazing”. However, he acknowledged that he was under scrutiny from local authorities for “lighting up” during his set.
“I didn’t mean any disrespect to the country of Romania by lighting up on stage,” Khalifa tweeted. “They were very respectful and let me go. I’ll be back soon. But without a big ass joint next time.”
