Survivor Fans Want Host Jeff Probst Replaced by This Man After Live Finale Mistake

It appears that many Survivor fans have turned on Jeff Probst. The man that’s been there for every tribal council since the beginning of the US version is getting his share of backlash since the Season 50 finale.

A slip-up by the Emmy Award winner on Wednesday’s episode has some wondering whether the show needs a new face to moderate tribal council in the future. He accidentally shared on live TV that Jonathan Young had beaten Rizo Velovic in the fire-making challenge before that moment aired.

Online, people had a lot to say about Jeff and who they’d like to see fill his shoes. If you’re a fan of other iterations of Survivor around the world, you might recognize the man leading the hosting wish lists…

Could Jonathan LaPaglia host Survivor after leaving the Australian series?

He’s been out of the Survivor world since last year, but some fans would like to see him back.

Jonathan LaPaglia hosted Australian Survivor for 11 seasons. His removal from the show in favor of former winner David Genat had many loyal followers of the program in an uproar.

Jonathan happened to be at the big Survivor 50 finale in Los Angeles. He last hosted Australian Survivor V The World which featured US alums like Tony Vlachos, Parvati Shallow, and Cirie Fields.

Online, one user on X said: “I think it’s time for Jonathan LaPaglia to finally get his shot at hosting Survivor over Jeff Probst.” TV Blackbox shared numerous other online calls on Reddit, Instagram and X about Jonathan replacing Jeff. “JLP would never do what Jeff just did,” exclaimed one user.

For some, it isn’t just Jeff’s mishap on the Survivor 50 finale that has them calling for a change. He’s been criticized for being intense at tribal council. For some Jonathan’s more laid-back approach would be a breath of fresh air for American contestants. One user says that Jonathan“ lets the players and strategy breathe.”

Jeff’s now-infamous mistake on the air left him looking very confused. He was told by members of the jury that they hadn’t shown the challenge between Rizo and Jonathan.

Jeff, who is an executive producer for the show, is set to host Season 51 in the fall.

You can stream Survivor on Paramount+.
