Glen Powell opened up about some truly bizarre fan encounters as his Hollywood star continues to rise. The “Top Gun: Maverick” actor recently revealed that one particularly dedicated admirer spent months eating photos of his face, and somehow ended up attending one of his movie premieres.
It’s the kind of story that sounds made up after midnight on TikTok. Unfortunately for Powell, it was very real.
Glen Powell feels uneasy after a crazed fan attends The Running Man premiere
During a recent actors’ roundtable discussion, Powell shared the strange experience that left both him and fellow actors stunned. According to the actor, a TikTok creator who goes by the username @mynameismonique allegedly printed photographs of his face and ate them every day for more than 80 days in hopes of landing a role in one of his projects.
At first, Powell thought the story was a joke. Then his team informed him that the woman had gained access to the red carpet at “The Running Man” premiere. “I didn’t know this was a thing until it was described to me while I was on the red carpet,” Powell recalled as per RadarOnline. “They’re like, ‘Hey, the girl that eats your face is on the red carpet.’”
Naturally, he was confused. “What are you talking about?” was reportedly his immediate reaction. The revelation sparked disbelief among his fellow panelists. Actor Zach Braff questioned how the fan managed to get red carpet access in the first place. Powell admitted he had the same concern, joking that the situation felt like a serious liability.
The actor also shared another unsettling moment involving a fan who asked him to autograph what appeared to be a private family photograph. That encounter left him wondering how the image had been obtained. “That’s scary,” actor Riz Ahmed responded. Owen Wilson agreed, describing the stories as chilling.
Despite laughing about the incidents publicly, RadarOnline further reported that the experiences have made Powell more cautious as his fame continues to grow. The actor has become one of Hollywood’s most in-demand leading men following major projects like Top Gun: Maverick, Anyone But You, Chad Powers, and The Running Man.
Ironically, Powell said one of his favorite recent experiences involved becoming almost unrecognizable while filming Chad Powers thanks to extensive prosthetics.
For someone attracting this level of attention, a little anonymity probably sounds pretty appealing.
As for the photo-eating fan, footage later surfaced showing Powell meeting her at a red carpet event. After he signed a photograph, she immediately took a bite out of it. Looking directly at the camera, Powell summed up the moment perfectly: “This is savage.”
