Donald Trump Installs Giant Stage Lights at White House for UFC Birthday Event

Large stage lights are now rising over the White House lawn ahead of a UFC fight event. Donald Trump plans to host the first-ever UFC card at the White House this summer.

Construction crews have already started transforming the South Lawn into a temporary outdoor arena for the upcoming celebration. The event is tied to both Trump’s 80th birthday and the United States’ 250th anniversary festivities planned for June.

Workers were seen installing massive lighting structures outside the White House on May 25 and May 26 as preparations continued for UFC Freedom 250. The event will feature a full UFC setup, including the promotion’s famous octagon cage. Photos and early renderings shared online show the South Lawn being reshaped into a large-scale sports venue unlike anything previously hosted at the presidential residence.

Donald Trump first revealed the idea in 2025 while discussing plans for America’s semiquincentennial celebrations. Alongside the UFC card, he also proposed events like the Freedom 250 Grand Prix, an IndyCar race expected to run through Washington, D.C. Trump later told reporters, “I’ve been involved in a lot of big events,” before adding that the White House UFC fight generated more interest than almost anything he had previously organized (via People).

Dana White said the plan came together quickly after Trump first mentioned it during a UFC event last year. In an interview with The New Yorker, White recalled Trump saying it “would be great to have an event for America’s 250th.” According to White, White House staff began discussing logistics almost immediately afterward.

The temporary arena is expected to cater to a little more than 4,000 people. White said he and Ari Emanuel will each receive 200 tickets to distribute, while Trump reportedly has 1,000 tickets reserved.

Most of the remaining seats are expected to go to members of the U.S. military. Officials are also planning a separate UFC Freedom 250 Fan Fest at the Ellipse near the National Mall, where well over 83,000 fans could reportedly watch the event for free.
