Naomi Osaka’s Germanier Skirt Made From Upcycled Nike Is Fully See-Through

Naomi Osaka delivered not one but two dramatic fashion moments for her latest French Open collaboration with Kevin Germanier. She entered the court in a voluminous black sheer skirt and a matching colored black vest jacket before removing it to reveal a glittering gold look underneath.

In the editorial shoot titled “COURT-URE,” Osaka first appeared wrapped in a black skirt that flowed across the court. The completely see-through tulle design added a dark, gothic edge, especially when paired with long black opera gloves. She paired this with a black sleeve jacket that featured embellishments and a silver zip down the front.

But the black skirt wasn’t the final reveal.

As the game began to progress, Osaka removed the dramatic sheer layers to uncover the real centerpiece underneath. A structured gold embellished outfit created from upcycled Nike garments. Kevin Germanier later confirmed the ensemble featured reconstructed Nike pieces transformed into couture-style fashion for Roland-Garros.

Underneath the black layers sat a fitted bronze-gold Nike minidress topped with a sculptural peplum. It was covered in shimmering sequins and metallic embellishments. The bottom half of this dress featured a super short hemline with multiple layers. The sparkling design hugged Osaka’s silhouette while still incorporating sporty fabric and elements, including tennis shoes, a visor, and a racket.

The contrast between the two looks made the transformation especially striking. The sheer black overskirt brought couture drama, while the gold look leaned into a futuristic and athletic territory. This reconstruction of pieces blended performance wear with high fashion craftsmanship.

Germanier has become known for turning recycled materials into extravagant runway pieces, and this collaboration pushed that vision into the world of tennis. Osaka, meanwhile, continues proving she’s one of the sport’s boldest fashion risk-takers, using major tournaments as opportunities for style statements.

Together, the layered reveal transformed the shoot from a simple fashion editorial into a full couture performance.
