Where Does the Nancy Guthrie Disappearance Case Stand Today?

On February 1, 2026, Nancy Guthrie was abducted from her home in the Catalina Foothills neighborhood of Tucson, Arizona. A few days later, her daughter, Savannah Guthrie, a co-host on the Today Show, used her platform to plead for her safe return. Several months have since passed. So, where does this case stand today?

The Nancy Guthrie case remains unsolved with no arrests

More than 100 days have passed since Nancy’s disappearance. Local authorities are investigating her whereabouts, and now, so is Savannah. She is reportedly paying private investigators to help keep “Nancy’s search active.” As a source alleged, “[Savannah] refuses to rely solely on law enforcement” at this stage in the game.

The hiring of outside sources makes sense, as the police have yet to make any arrests in this case. Authorities reportedly have a few leads. But as of now, they have not publicly named any suspects. Even still, many people have weighed in on this case with their theories, from lawyers to celebrities and even former FBI agents.

However, the timeline of Nancy’s disappearance is the only publicly known factor thus far. We know that this case began a little before 2 a.m on February 1, when a masked, armed intruder disconnected Nancy’s doorbell camera. Within the next hour, her pacemaker app disconnected from her phone, and by noon that same day, parishioners from her church reported her as missing.

On February 2, ransom notes allegedly arrived at local media outlets. The following day, DNA testing confirmed that the dried blood found on her front porch did indeed belong to Nancy. Then, on February 10, the FBI released images of a masked man, taken on her during the night of her disappearance. Two days later, investigators identified this suspect’s backpack as a Walmart brand, and they estimated his height to be between 5’9″ and 5’10”.

Savannah returned to her co-hosting duties on April 6. She continues to use her platform to plead for her mother’s recovery.
