Donald Trump’s UFC Birthday Event & ‘No Kings’ Rally Set for Same Day

President Donald Trump is preparing to host a massive UFC event at the White House for his birthday celebration. On the same day, a nationwide protest movement has announced a counter-program designed to rival it in scale and spectacle.

‘No Kings Protest’ planned on Donald Trump’s birthday

Trump is billing his birthday as a historic national moment. The White House South Lawn will host UFC Freedom 250, a star-spangled octagon event with 4,000 ticketed guests. A fan festival on the nearby Ellipse is expected to draw as many as 100,000 people, with weigh-ins reportedly planned at the Lincoln Memorial.

The main event features a lightweight title bout between champion Ilia Topuria and interim champion Justin Gaethje. Trump has said demand for tickets has been unlike anything he has ever seen, and White House spokesperson Davis Ingle called it “one of the greatest and most historic sports events in history.”

While the president celebrates, the No Kings movement plans to make its presence felt. The group has announced a nationwide event on the same day, June 14. It is anchored by a free 90-minute concert at New York’s Town Hall, streaming live across the country.

The concert, billed as A Night to Build Community, features Bette Midler, Patti Smith, Jane Fonda, Rufus Wainwright, and Joy Reid. Local groups will host watch parties nationwide, pairing the broadcast with art-making and civic gatherings. The event is co-presented by the Committee for the First Amendment.

In a statement, the movement said, “We can let strongman politics and corruption define the moment. Or we can make the story of America about people coming together — across race, background, identity, belief and community — to defend our rights and build a future rooted in people power.”

The No Kings movement has grown over the past year. Its first action, held on Trump’s 79th birthday last June, drew an estimated five million participants. A follow-up in October reportedly brought out seven million. Then a third mobilization in March got an estimated eight million people across all 50 states and more than two dozen countries.
