Joe Biden’s Wife Jill Updates on Former President’s Health After Cancer Spread

Former first lady Jill Biden has shared an update about her husband and former president Joe Bidens battle with prostate cancer. She said during an episode on the Today show, which aired on June 1, “I think Joe will live with cancer until the rest of his life.”

Dr Jill Biden shared that former POTUS Joe is doing “OK” amid a “tough” cancer battle

While discussing Biden’s current condition, the 74-year-old wife told the show’s co-host Craig Melvin, “You know, he’s doing okay. Craig, you’ve been through this with your brother [Lawrence Meadows]; you know how tough it is. And I think if he had just been diagnosed with prostate cancer, that’s one thing, because that can be cured, but the fact that it metastasized to his bones, that makes it a whole different story.” I think Joe will live with cancer till the rest of his life.” Adding, “I think Joe will live with cancer till the rest of his life.”

In an interview with CBS News Sunday Morning on May 31, she said, “I can remember getting the diagnosis, and it was just, it was shocking,” adding, “Well, you know, the doctor said that according to the American Urological Association, that men over 70 don’t need a PSA, a blood test, anymore because it’s a slow-growing cancer. I do feel we had amazing care in the White House, but somehow that was missed.”

The former POTUS was diagnosed with an “aggressive form” of prostate cancer in May 2025. After being diagnosed, he shared an uplifting post on Instagram, expressing gratitude for the support. He wrote, while sharing a photo of himself and his wife, “Cancer touches us all. Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places. Thank you for lifting us up with love and support.”
