Summer has officially started … but that’s not because today is June 1. Love Island UK is back on screens tonight, and the first major twist of the season has just been announced.
The Love Island UK launch will take place at night for the first time ever

For the first time, Love Island UK will begin the series with a special nighttime episode. Typically, the series begins with the new Islanders arriving at the villa during the daytime, and they then couple up – either based on initial attraction or per a viewer vote.
“The island of love has had the ultimate shake-up,” an ITV press release teased. “For the first time in the show’s history, the launch is set to kick off at night.”
Elaborating on that, ITV confirmed Maya Jama is returning as host, and that a “new batch of sexy singles” will enter the villa for “an exclusive welcome party under the stars.”
But, the twists won’t end there … duh!
“In true Love Island style, a summer of twists, turns, and tests awaits [the islanders] from the very first moment,” the press release added. “Expect the unexpected with surprise arrivals, shifting loyalties, and instant sparks. The new series promises even more of the unforgettable moments and unmissable messiness that have defined the show since it first hit screens in 2015.”
The premiere teaser comes just hours after Love Island bosses issued a warning about contestant welfare. “We love the passion you have for the show, and we love your commentary, memes, debates, and seeing everyone so invested in the journey,” a post on the Love Island UK Instagram Story said.
“We just ask that while the drama unfolds, everyone remembers there are real people behind the screen. Let’s keep the vibes high, the energy positive, and let’s make this a summer to remember.”
Love Island UK airs daily on ITV2 at 9pm (BST) and streams on ITVX.
