Euphoria Actress Says She Doesn’t Want Sydney Sweeney’s Level of Fame

Euphoria star Alexa Demie confessed she doesn’t want Sydney Sweeney‘s level of fame. Demie finally addressed online chatter comparing her career to her castmates’. The 35-year-old actress clarified that her goal is not to have a career like some of the A-listers on the show, explaining that her ambitions are different.

Alexa Demie says she doesn’t want Sydney Sweeney’s level of fame

Alexa Demie revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that she does not want her Euphoria co-star Sydney Sweeney’s level of fame. The actress is known to keep a low profile and hasn’t done many appearances compared to her co-stars. Fans have often wondered why Demie’s career hasn’t taken off like her castmates, such as Zendaya or Jacob Elordi.

Demie confessed that sometimes friends send her posts questioning why she isn’t as popular as her other co-actors. To which she replied, “It’s like, did you ever think that I don’t want it? People really take the authority out of your hands. What happened to my ability to choose? I like my life like this, and I wouldn’t change it. There are goals, and things that I want, but I’m choosing to keep that private.”

Showrunner Sam Levinson also weighed in on the matter and shared his take on the fame issue. He remarked, “I think there’s a misconception about Alexa, and I’ve always rejected the framework of, ‘Oh, Alexa should have what Sydney or someone else has,’ because that’s a very high school mentality to bring to the craft. I think Alexa is doing everything that she wants, and if she doesn’t have something, it’s because she doesn’t want it. I see her as completely fulfilled.”

Sweeney is undoubtedly one of the biggest stars to have emerged from Euphoria. She played the role of Cassie Howard, Maddy’s (Demie’s) best friend, who eventually pivots to an OnlyFans career to pay for her dream wedding to Nate (Elordi). Meanwhile, Maddy becomes her manager and manages Cassie’s thriving OnlyFans career, pushing her name to the top.

In other news, Sweeney received intense backlash for her hypersexualized portrayal of the character. However, the actress responded to her naysayers through a cryptic Instagram post, showing some of the wholesome moments from Euphoria Season 3 with the caption: “It’s called… acting.”
