Sydney Sweeney’s work on “Euphoria“ continues to spark conversations long after the show ended. Series creator Sam Levinson recently opened up about the trust he shares with the actress. The filmmaker revealed that he initially considered reducing nudity in one of Cassie’s major Season 3 storylines. However, Sweeney quickly pushed back, arguing the right reasons.

Speaking on The New York Times Popcast, Sam Levinson explained that Season 3 places Cassie in a storyline where she turns to OnlyFans to help pay for an extravagant wedding to Nate Jacobs. While writing the season, he thought about filming parts of the story in a way that avoided nudity.
According to Levinson, Sweeney immediately challenged the idea. He recalled suggesting they could “shoot around” certain scenes, but the actress responded by pointing out that Cassie was playing an OnlyFans creator. Levinson admitted she had a “fair point” and agreed with her perspective.
Levinson praised Sweeney’s approach to the role and spoke highly of their working relationship. “There’s a lot of trust that we have,” he said, while describing her as “totally fearless” and a “wonderfully professional” performer. He also explained that the creative team wanted the storyline to feel authentic while balancing drama, humor, and the larger goals of Cassie’s character arc (via Complex).
The director added that creating a safe environment for actors is one of his biggest priorities. He believes performers deliver their strongest work when they feel comfortable and free to fully explore a character without tension or pressure affecting their performance. “I believe very strongly that the best, most honest performances are when an actor feels free and safe. That’s how you get a great performance,” Levinson said.
Sweeney is a well-known actress with an impressive résumé with projects including “Anyone But You”, “Immaculate”, “Madame Web”, “Reality”, and “The White Lotus”. However, “Euphoria Season 3” sees her in her boldest form.
