Fans react to Nicholas Hoult in warsuit in Man of Tomorrow image
The latest image from “Man of Tomorrow” of Nicholas Hoult donning an iconic piece of Lex Luthor’s wardrobe sparked an instant wave of fan reaction.
On June 1, DC Studios co-head James Gunn took to X (formerly Twitter), sharing the first look at his actor in the villain’s comic-accurate green warsuit. Gunn captioned the image, “Fit check. Live from the set of Man of Tomorrow.”
The reaction from fans was immediate and overwhelming, with one reading, ” The Gunn just Gunned down the haters. The streets are talking, this is cinema!!!” “My honest reaction LEZGO!” echoed another. “Comic accurate once again,” wrote a DC loyalist. “The petty king is back,” gushed yet another fan.
When Gunn first announced the film, he and Hoult shared DC Comics artwork of Lex in the same armor. Now, ahead of its July 9, 2027, premiere, fans are seeing the comic-accurate design realized in live action.
In a series of posts on Threads, James Gunn said that the warsuit is “100 percent practical”. He noted that the Nosferatu actor “can move incredibly well” in it. “And yeah in the movie version he’s added unbreakable Lexiglas [trademarked],” Gunn added.
Man of Tomorrow brings Nicholas Hoult back alongside David Corenswet’s Superman. The two enemies form an uneasy alliance against a much greater threat: Lars Eidinger’s Brainiac.
Matthew Lillard is the latest addition to the sequel’s cast, joining Milly Alcock as Supergirl. They round out an ensemble that already includes Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, and Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher.
The lineup also features Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, and Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr. Additionally, Aaron Pierre will reprise the role of Green Lantern John Stewart in Man of Tomorrow.
