Kevin Hart has opened up about the one star he believes should remain off-limits when it comes to roasts. He thinks this celebrity should never get roasted. From stand-up specials to Hollywood films, the comedian is known for direct, unfiltered comedy. The statement, however, comes following the Netflix special where Hart himself was roasted by fellow A-listers last month.
Kevin Hart reveals he won’t let this guest get roasted
Kevin Hart has revealed that Oprah Winfrey should never be a target of a roast.
Hart reflected on the long-running celebrity roast tradition during his Wednesday appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. He added that the next person should be both “brave enough” and a “real big name.”
When Kimmel floated the idea of Oprah Winfrey as a roast target, Hart was left speechless, shaking his head while the audience burst into laughter.
“Would that be unacceptable? That’d be like spray painting the Sistine Chapel?” Kimmel laughingly asked.
“If I found out that Oprah said she wanted to do it, I’m driving 100 miles per hour to Oprah’s house,” the Jumanji star explained, adding he’d tell her, “You cannot do this. No shot.”
Hart took the heat for hours at the Netflix Is a Joke Festival roast. Chelsea Handler, Katt Williams, and Pete Davidson went after him on stage. Meanwhile, Dwayne Johnson plus Tom Brady popped in as surprise guests. Brady had been the target of Hart’s Netflix roast earlier in 2024.
The actor further admitted to Kimmel that Johnson’s line about his late dad, Henry Robert Witherspoon, was the one he didn’t see coming.
“I think the one that caught me off guard, Dwayne,” he revealed. “Dwayne had the picture of my father and he had a mug shot of my dad and he goes, ‘Look at my dad. Kev, we both love our dads.’”
Kevin Hart recalled that the Fast and Furious star showed a gym-ready picture of his late father, wrestler Rocky Johnson. Johnson followed it up with what Hart claims is the “worst” photo of his father.
