Donald Trump’s World Cup ‘Interference’ Gets a Savage Jimmy Kimmel Show Roast

Donald Trump’s World Cup phone call just earned him a late-night roasting. Tiffany Haddish used her guest-hosting debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to deliver sharp jokes about the president’s controversial FIFA intervention and more.

Tiffany Haddish roasts Donald Trump after World Cup interference

Tiffany Haddish roasted President Donald Trump over his World Cup interference during her guest-hosting stint on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday. The Independent reports the comedian kicked off her week-long hosting gig by targeting the president’s controversial call to FIFA. Haddish replaces Kimmel during his annual two-month summer break from the late-night show.

Trump previously called FIFA president Gianni Infantino to protest U.S. star Folarin Balogun’s red card during the Bosnia-Herzegovina match. FIFA then announced it had suspended Balogun’s red card, allowing him to play in the knockout game against Belgium. Trump told reporters Monday in the Oval Office that he “asked for a review by FIFA” but had “nothing to do with the decision.”

Haddish addressed the controversy directly during Monday’s episode. “One of our star players was supposed to be suspended from tonight’s game, but Donald Trump personally called the head of FIFA to get the player reinstated,” she said. She then added, “Which is surprising, because Trump doesn’t know anything about soccer, and it’s the first time he’s ever defended a Black person!”

Trump’s intervention ultimately proved futile, as the U.S. Men’s Soccer team lost to Belgium 4-1 in Monday’s match. He also wrote on Truth Social, “Thank you to FIFA for doing what was right and reversing a great injustice.” The president faces continued global mockery over his involvement in the tournament.

Haddish also targeted Trump’s Great American State Fair, which saw low attendance amid extreme heat and canceled performances. “Trump said the event was going to be, and I quote, ‘packed to the brim,'” she said. She then joked, “There was more people at my bat mitzvah.” Actor Anthony Anderson will take over guest-hosting duties starting July 13.
