Olivia Rodrigo Addresses Rumors of a Sabrina Carpenter Collaboration

Olivia Rodrigo gave a careful answer after a rumored duet question with Sabrina Carpenter surfaced in a new interview. The pop singer laughed first, then left fans with an “I’m open” answer.

The moment came as she discussed her new album, “you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love.” It also followed months of fan chatter around whether two pop stars could ever share a song. The exchange gave the rumor cycle a clear answer without promising anything concrete.

Olivia Rodrigo laughs first when asked about her collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter

According to a Dazed Digital report dated June 4, Rodrigo was asked directly about a studio link-up with Sabrina Carpenter. The interviewer said fans often wanted the two singers to work together. Rodrigo first reacted with a laugh and said, “Oh, gosh.”

However, she did not shut down the idea. She added, “I mean, I’m open.” The “drivers license” hitmaker then widened the answer. She said, “I’m open to all types of collaboration.” The reply kept the door open without confirming any planned studio session.

Meanwhile, Rodrigo also named other artists she admired during the same conversation. When asked who she would like to work with, she mentioned PJ Harvey and Fiona Apple. She said both artists were doing something “special and raw and unfiltered.” Later, when Lorde came up, the singer said, “Oh yeah, she’s amazing.” She also credited “Pure Heroine” with shaping how she thought about songwriting.

Additionally, the interview focused on Rodrigo’s next era after “SOUR” and “GUTS.” She said the new album was about her first “adult relationship.” The singer also described writing from love, fear, and uncertainty. She said, “all of the best love songs” carried sadness, longing, or fear.

Moreover, Rodrigo reflected on heartbreak and called it “an opportunity to redirect your life.” She also shared that “drop dead” tried to capture early romantic nerves. The comment, therefore, came during a bigger reset around her music and public image.
