Donald Trump’s top aide leaves White House
Sriram Krishnan has announced that he will be leaving his role as White House senior policy adviser for artificial intelligence at the end of June. The tech executive made an X post on June 6, announcing his departure.
“It is hard to express how big a privilege it has been to serve the American people and how grateful I am to have had the opportunity to do so,” Krishnan wrote. “First and foremost, it has been an honor to serve under President [Donald Trump]. Without his leadership, we would not be leading in the AI race.”
Furthermore, Krishnan also thanked former White House AI Special Advisor for AI and Crypto, David Sack. “I owe a lot to the person I’ve worked mostly closely with over the last 18 months –
@DavidSacks,” he wrote in the X post. “His continuing advocacy for America winning on AI has been and continues to be crucial,” Krishnan added. Krishnan went on to list some of the “key public accomplishments” during his time as Trump’s senior AI policy advisor. These include “architecting and publishing the American AI Action Plan,” “the National AI Policy Framework for Artificial Intelligence executive order.” Krishnan also noted that he is proud of the AI acceleration partnerships that push “American AI stack win globally,” as well as “advocating for the American AI stack with our allies globally.”
Krishnan is one of the most influential tech industry figures to serve under Trump’s administration. In December 2024, shortly before the beginning of his second term in office, the president announced that Krishnan would become the Senior White House Policy Advisor on Artificial Intelligence in his administration. Furthermore, Krishnan is also a venture capitalist and author. He has led product teams at tech giants like Microsoft, Twitter, Yahoo!, Facebook, and Snap earlier in his career.
