Donald Trump Slams Stephen A. Smith’s White House Hopes With ‘High IQ’ Remark

President Donald Trump took a shot at Stephen A. Smith’s presidential ambitions on Monday night after the ESPN commentator said he’d blame Trump if the New York Knicks lost Game 3 of the NBA Finals. President Donald Trump took a dig at Stephen A. Smith. Trump spoke about Smith after the New York Knicks lost Game 3 of the NBA Finals.

Previously, Stephen A. Smith had said that he would blame Donald Trump, who was in attendance at the final game, if the Knicks lost. The Knicks did end up losing 111-115 to the San Antonio Spurs.

After attending Game 3 at Madison Square Garden, Trump took a dig at Smith before boarding Air Force One. “I think he’s a nice guy, but you need a certain aptitude to run for president,” Trump said of Smith (via Fox News). “You need a high IQ. I’m not sure that Stephen has that. I don’t think he does, actually.”

Smith, a notable Knicks fan, had earlier said that he did not want the President at the venue of the game. But Trump attended the game and became the first sitting President in the history of the United States to attend an NBA Finals game.

Many commentators had argued before the game that Trump’s appearance could create chaos and necessitate updated security measures.

However, some, including Whoopi Goldberg, took Trump’s side on the argument and said that it was okay for him to visit the game.

Meanwhile, Stephen A. Smith has floated the idea of potentially launching a presidential run in the 2028 election, though nothing has been confirmed yet.
