JD Vance recently predicted the future of U.S. involvement in the Iran conflict. He expressed confidence that President Donald Trump will avoid turning it into a prolonged war. His remarks come amid ongoing negotiations between both sides, with no clear conclusion in sight. Vance also recently clarified that the U.S. will seek a nuclear deal with Iran, regardless of Israel’s stance on the issue.
JD Vance talks about Iran war’s future
During an exclusive telephone interview with USA Today, JD Vance claimed that the U.S. will not be involved in the Iran conflict for years without any objective or purpose. He strongly believes that Trump will prevent the conflict from becoming a “quagmire.”
“I feel extremely confident that we are not going to be talking about America’s involvement in Iran even a year down the road, but certainly not years down the road,” he elaborated. Vance reportedly does not believe that Trump is planning to extend the U.S. campaign in the region into a long-term conflict, similar to the extended wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
These remarks come after the vice president provided his stance on pursuing a long-term nuclear deal with Iran. He said to FOX News, “Over the last year and a half, we’ve created the space necessary where the president believes – and I think that he’s right – that we can get the long-term settlement to Iran’s nuclear deal.”
Vance further clearly stated that their moves might or might not be liked by Israel. However, they believe the direction they are heading towards is in the best interest of the U.S. Therefore, they will continue to aim for the nuclear deal, as he believes that is what Trump was elected to do. “If we get to this deal, it’s gonna be a home run win for the American people,” he added.
Potential tensions appear to have ensued between the U.S. and Israel after the former asked the latter not to retaliate against Iran’s strikes. But the U.S.’s request was seemingly neglected.
