Donald Trump‘s granddaughter, Kai Trump, has spoken positively about the “atmosphere” at the Knicks game. The president got booed by the crowd at Madison Square Garden on Monday. Despite the rough reception, his 19-year-old granddaughter made surprisingly optimistic remarks on her social media.
Kai Trump posts message on Instagram after Knicks game
Kai Trump accompanied her grandfather, President Trump, at Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Monday at Madison Square Garden. Due to the president’s visit, tight security measures were in place, leading to long queues and heavy security checks at the venue. Frustrated ticket holders retaliated with boos and catcalls when Trump made his appearance.
Despite the harsh reception, Donald Trump’s granddaughter, Kai Trump, seemed to have a different take on the ambience during the game. The social media star and the eldest child of Donald Trump Jr. and Vanessa Trump shared an Instagram Story, writing, “The atmosphere was amazing.” She added a selfie wearing a Knicks baseball cap. Kai added, “Let’s get that win on Wednesday. Go Knicks.”
The Knicks, however, could not secure the victory, losing 115-111 to the San Antonio Spurs. Ahead of the game, fans were notified of tighter security measures due to the president’s visit. In an official statement, the New York Knicks informed ticket holders about a “strict no-bag policy” and “TSA-style screening procedures” at the game.
Most recently, Spurs point guard De’Aaron Fox spoke out against the heavy security checks and roadblocks around the MSG. “I think the president being here just makes it inconvenient on everybody else,” the NBA star said during a pregame shootaround. “We’ve got more, obviously more, security. We’ve got to send stuff early. I think our buses are a little earlier, so that’s that,” he added (via The Daily Beast).
