Donald Trump has stated that he will appoint Bill Pulte as the acting director of national intelligence. The president has recently made a Truth Social post, standing by the decision. Trump had first announced Pulte’s appointment as the top intelligence official on Tuesday.
Donald Trump selects Bill Pulte as acting Intelligence chief
In a Truth Social post on June 10, Donald Trump doubled down on his decision to replace Tulsi Gabbard with Bill Pulte as the director of national intelligence. The president stated that Pulte will take over the role in an acting capacity, starting June 19.
“I have named William Pulte to be Acting Director of National Intelligence, who will take over on June 19th, and have asked him to execute the immediate and needed downsizing of the office, reverting staff to their home agencies,” Trump wrote. “At the same time, I am looking for a permanent ODNI Nominee with experience in National Security,” he added.
Earlier in the post, Trump accused “Radical Left Dumocrats” of “trying to take our National Security hostage because of unrelated issues.” The POTUS further said Democrats are “playing politics” with the nation’s security after US Senators, which includes seven Republicans, voted against the renewal of a government surveillance program, the Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.
“FISA 702 is very important to our Military, and keeping the American People safe, especially during the World Cup and America250 Celebrations,” Trump penned in the post. He added, “If nothing is done, this important Law will expire this week.”
The president then called for Congress to send him a short-term extension of the surveillance program “to provide time for the selection and confirmation of a permanent Head of the Agency.”
On Tuesday, Trump made a Truth Social post saying that Pulte is “working closely with Tulsi Gabbard.” The president announced that Pulte will remain as the Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency and Chairman of Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac.
