Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) celebrated the Knicks’ Game 4 win with an apparent mocking of Donald Trump. Notably, the president faced loud boos at Madison Square Garden days earlier.
AOC takes an apparent dig at Donald Trump after Knicks Game 4 win
New York congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took an apparent jibe at Donald Trump shortly after the final buzzer on Game 4, as the Knicks secured a comeback win over the San Antonio Spurs to level the NBA Finals series. Her message avoided any direct mention of the president, yet its target was deemed to be Donald Trump.
“THANK YOU TO THE PEOPLE WHO BLESSED MSG TODAY TO GET THE STANK VIBES OUT YOUR SERVICE IS APPRECIATED,” she posted on X (formerly Twitter). The phrase “stank vibes” was widely read as a reference to Trump, whose appearance at Game 3 on Monday had gotten a hostile reaction from the crowd.
When the Jumbotron showed the president seated in a private box, the arena erupted in sustained booing. He reportedly stopped waving shortly afterwards. Later in the evening, cameras cut to him clapping, and the jeers returned.
Knicks fans did not hide their frustration after the team lost Game 3, snapping a 13-game winning streak. Many blamed the defeat on Donald Trump’s presence, calling it a jinx that had unsettled the team’s rhythm. By the time the Knicks rallied to win Game 4, a sense of restoration had taken hold among the fanbase.
AOC had already made her feelings plain after Monday’s play. She shared a video clip that appeared to show Donald Trump with his eyes closed during the game, adding the caption, “WAKE TF UP.”
Moreover, the criticism extended beyond social media. Donald Trump’s attendance triggered sweeping security measures that disrupted the experience for thousands of fans. The outdoor watch party at Madison Square Garden was cancelled, with city officials citing security concerns.
Every attendee entering the arena faced TSA-style screenings, creating long queues and delays. The heightened restrictions drew complaints from ticket-holders who found the atmosphere far removed from a typical Finals game.
