Dwayne Johnson recently opened up about his health and career, including his testicular health scare after discovering a lump. It happened while he was promoting Jumanji: Open World alongside Kevin Hart and Jack Black, when his doctor examined the lump and initially warned it could be cancer.

In a cover story interview for Esquire’s Summer issue, he recollected how it all happened. “I didn’t even tell Lauren,” he said of his wife, Lauren Hashian, adding, “I didn’t want to worry her before I even knew if there was anything to worry about.”
The couple met in 2006 while Johnson was filming The Game Plan. They began dating in 2007 and got married on August 18, 2019, in Hawaii. The couple shares two daughters, Jasmine (10) and Tiana (7), while the actor is also the father to his eldest daughter, Simone (24), from his marriage to ex-wife Dany Garcia, reports People.
Continuing the interview, Johnson, known by his ring name The Rock, told Esquire, “By the way, I’m fine. But I didn’t know that then, and the thing was really painful.” He then went on to explain how it was discovered.
Before the event, the 54-year-old actor contacted his doctor, who examined the lump and suggested it was likely epididymitis, an inflammation of the tube at the back of the testicle that stores sperm. But the doctor also noted that it could potentially be cancer.
His doctor advised him to get an ultrasound the next morning. “So I had to live with that for those 24 hours, not knowing—and I had to be on all day, joking around, making speeches,” he said, adding, “But! I’m okay.”
Johnson’s upcoming projects are packed with major blockbusters. He will star in the live-action Moana, which is set to release on July 10. While Jumanji: Open World is set for a worldwide theatrical release on December 25, 2026, as per MovieWeb.
