Jennifer Lopez reflected on an emotional movie-watching experience that helped her heal during a difficult period in her life. While appearing on her “Office Romance” co-star Brett Goldstein’s podcast “Films to Be Buried With,” the singer and actress opened up about a moment that left her in tears following her split from Ben Affleck.

During the conversation, Goldstein asked Lopez which film had changed her perspective or helped her see the world differently. The 56-year-old immediately pointed to the 2024 Brazilian drama “I’m Still Here.”
Lopez explained that she had fallen seriously ill around Christmas while several family members, including her parents and cousins, stayed with her. At the time, she was also navigating her divorce from Affleck and spending a lot of time thinking about her children.
She recalled sitting down with her father, David Lopez, to watch the film. The emotional story follows Eunice Paiva’s decades-long search for answers after her husband disappeared during Brazil’s military dictatorship. As the movie unfolded, Lopez found herself overwhelmed by memories and emotions connected to her family and personal experiences.
“My whole family knew I was going through a hard time,” Lopez said. She remembered trying to hide her tears from her father before he noticed her crying and asked what was wrong.
According to Lopez, she responded by telling him that fathers are incredibly important. Her father then comforted her with a heartfelt reminder of his love and support. The moment became one of the most meaningful parts of the experience.
Lopez said the exchange changed her life and helped her move forward from certain relationships and painful chapters of her past. She described the film as something that healed a part of her that needed healing.
The actress later lightened the mood by joking with Goldstein after sharing the emotional story. Lopez and Goldstein currently star together in the romantic comedy “Office Romance,” which is streaming on Netflix.
