Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula’s separation has been messy to say the least.
Beyond the dating scandal involving West Wilson, which has eclipsed Summer House Season 10, the pair were struggling in their romance for years, conflicting on his growing DJ career and her desire to settle down. It’s no wonder, then, that fans predict their divorce will be anything but simple.
Kyle, on the other hand, has other ideas. The Summer House OG just revealed he is hoping for a “walkaway” divorce.
The Summer House star is hoping for a “walkaway” divorce
In a new interview with PEOPLE, Kyle opened up about how he sees his divorce from Amanda playing out. According to the Loverboy founder, it was Amanda who initiated the legal process in mid-March, which coincided with when rumors regarding her romance with West were at their peak.
Reflecting on that, Kyle said it was “weird” for “someone who doesn’t take a lot of initiative” to start the divorce process. “I’m like, ‘Wait, is there some ulterior motive in terms of why she’s all of a sudden expediting the divorce?'”
The pair do not have a prenup, so “in lieu” of that, Kyle is planning to do a “walkaway” divorce. That is where both parties leave the marriage with their existing assets and no financial claim against the other. “We didn’t co-mingle anything,” Kyle explained of how he and Amanda managed their money, which included separate bank accounts.
As for what the future of their relationship looks like. Kyle thinks they can learn to get along – on both Summer House and In The City.
“Hopefully we can still coexist peacefully,” Kyle said of how the trio might interact in future seasons. “I feel like life’s too short. Have I forgiven [West]? No. I’m just not the kind of guy who wants to close someone out of my life, particularly if they played a big part in it. I’m doing this the best that I can. There’s no playbook.”
Stream Summer House on Peacock, and catch In The City on Tuesdays at 9 PM ET/PT on Bravo.
