Donald Trump is reportedly furious over claims that sensitive White House discussions may have found their way into a forthcoming political tell-all. The alleged leak centers on conversations that took place inside the Situation Room, one of the most secure areas in the White House, and has sparked concern among administration insiders.
The controversy erupted after excerpts from a new book by New York Times reporters Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan appeared to contain detailed accounts of private meetings involving Iran, the Epstein files, and senior Trump administration officials.
Donald Trump is allegedly “furious” Situation Room leaks have been exposed in a new book
According to a report from Axios, Trump administration officials became alarmed after reviewing excerpts from Regime Change, Haberman and Swan’s upcoming book about Trump’s second term.
The concern stems from passages that appeared to recount internal White House discussions in remarkable detail. One administration source told Axios, “We’re afraid some of our most sensitive conversations were being recorded… And we have no idea which ones.”
That uncertainty reportedly has White House officials scrambling. The Situation Room is typically reserved for high-level national security briefings and sensitive policy discussions, making any suggestion of leaked information particularly troubling.
Axios further reported that Trump was “furious” over the detailed accounts included in the book.
Among the most widely discussed revelations is an alleged conversation involving Secretary of State Marco Rubio. According to an excerpt published by The New York Times, Rubio dismissed a proposal from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding regime change in Iran, telling colleagues, “In other words, it’s bulls—.”
Another section of the book reportedly focuses on the administration’s efforts to manage fallout surrounding renewed scrutiny of Jeffrey Epstein and the Epstein files.
Haberman and Swan claim Vice President J.D. Vance argued for releasing all available Epstein-related records as quickly as possible. The authors also allege that officials discussed the possibility of conservative commentator Tucker Carlson interviewing convicted Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell in prison as part of a broader public-relations strategy.
The book further claims that Trump wanted the controversy behind him and grew frustrated whenever the topic resurfaced. One of the most striking reported comments came from then-Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino, who allegedly warned colleagues, “This is going to be President Trump’s Iran-Contra,” according to the authors.
Whether the conversations were recorded or reconstructed through interviews remains unclear. Haberman and Swan have said they conducted more than 1,000 interviews while researching the book.
