Pat Sajak opens up about life 2 years after retiring from Wheel of Fortune
Pat Sajak seems to be having plenty of fun in retirement. The 79-year-old TV personality recently posted a video on X (formerly Twitter) to reassure fans that he is doing well. In the clip, he jokingly claimed that he had relocated to Montana and was enjoying his new lifestyle.
However, viewers quickly noticed that Sajak’s surroundings told a different story. Instead of ranchland, the background featured a large pool, palm trees, and ocean views. Staying in character, the former host quipped, “You’ll have to excuse me, I have some cattle to attend to,” before calling out to an unseen cow as a moo sound played off camera.
Fans joined in on the joke. One person joked that the giant pool behind him would be perfect for cooling cattle during summer, while another sarcastically suggested that the location was actually Ohio. The humorous exchange highlighted the affection viewers still have for the longtime television staple.
Pat Sajak first revealed his plans to step away in June 2023 after spending more than 40 years with Wheel of Fortune. At the time, he famously wrote, “Well, the time has come,” and called his run on the program “a wonderful ride.” His final regular episode aired in June 2024, with Celebrity Wheel of Fortune serving as his farewell appearance a year later.
During his final season, Sajak thanked ABC for giving him the chance to host Celebrity Wheel of Fortune and even had some fun by jokingly pitching a made-up show called Sajak Senior Secret Agent (via EW). After his retirement, Ryan Seacrest took over the reins for both versions of the long-running game show. Vanna White later weighed in on the change during an interview with Entertainment Weekly. Rather than picking favorites, she compared working with Sajak and Seacrest to comparing “apples to oranges.”
