Kim Kardashian Lookalike Dies After Illegal Butt Injection; Woman Sentenced

A tragic case involving a social media model known for her resemblance to Kim Kardashian has reached its legal conclusion. More than three years after Christina Ashten Gourkani died following a cosmetic procedure, the woman responsible for administering the injections has been sentenced to prison.

The case has renewed concerns about the dangers of unlicensed cosmetic treatments, particularly illegal butt injections that continue to circulate outside regulated medical settings. What began as a beauty procedure ended with a criminal conviction and a family still grieving a devastating loss.

Vivian Alexandra Gomez will serve four years in jail after illegally injecting Kim K model Christina Ashten Gourkani

According to PEOPLE, Vivian Alexandra Gomez was sentenced on June 15 to four years in state prison for her role in the April 2023 death of Christina Ashten Gourkani, a 34-year-old OnlyFans creator who built a following because she resembled Kim Kardashian.

Prosecutors said Gomez, an unlicensed cosmetologist from Florida, traveled to California and administered silicone butt injections to Gourkani inside a hotel room in Burlingame. Shortly after the procedure, Gourkani became seriously ill. She was later transported to a hospital, where she died from respiratory failure and a pulmonary embolism.

In March, Gomez was found guilty of felony involuntary manslaughter and practicing medicine without a license. During sentencing, Judge Leland Davis denied probation, finding that Gomez was “an active participant in the infliction of death to the victim,” according to statements cited by the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office.

The dangers associated with illegal silicone injections have long concerned medical professionals. In a previous interview with PEOPLE, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Michael K. Obeng explained, “Most of these illegal injections are made with silicone, and silicone or any foreign substance can migrate within the body.”

He added, “If it gets in the bloodstream, it can block the blood vessels and cause necrosis [or dead tissue]. So that’s a huge danger.”

Following the verdict, one of Gomez’s attorneys described his client as “a very nice woman” and told NBC Bay Area that “she was willing to accept responsibility for involuntary manslaughter a long time ago.”
