Nicki Minaj Questions Her Previous Song Lyrics

Nicki Minaj revealed during her appearance on The Bryce Crawford Podcast that she wishes she could rewrite some of her lyrics from her foundational era. She expressed a desire to swap those old themes, which focused on money, status, and material things, for a more grounded approach.

Minaj admitted they did not exactly improve her audience’s relationship to God and may have damaged the spiritual depth of her songs. She stated that when she was young, she hadn’t fully grasped the massive weight of her public influence and is now entirely ready to take responsibility for her past.

Nicki Minaj reflects on her former song lyrics saying she would rewrite some if she could

When asked about the current state of the music industry, Minaj quipped, ”Well, it sure isn’t making people want God more because it focuses on the worship of material things.” The rapper also admitted that the music industry she helped shape is far from perfect and she, too, would have written things differently if she had the chance, adding, ”Now if I could do it all over again, I would have changed a lot of things that I said.”

The rap superstar described her experience in the music industry as continuously fraught with challenges and an inner struggle to fit in and shine: “It was constant spiritual warfare. I felt like I brought a knife to a gunfight without having that information,” the rapper said.

Minaj also talked about humility and the importance of seeking God when pride makes you arrogant. She deeply recalled her early foray into faith and how it has carried her through the vicissitudes of the industry.

With Minaj openly rejecting the material-world flexes that characterized her early career, her lyrics are bound to evolve.
