Taylor Swift’s Rhode Island Wedding Plan Didn’t Happen for This Reason — Report

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce reportedly first planned their wedding in Rhode Island, but it didn’t come to fruition. The revelation comes ahead of the celebrity couple’s rumored wedding on July 3 at Madison Square Garden. However, prior to that, rumors suggested that Swift’s $17.75 million seaside home, with 8 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, and a private beach, was being eyed as the venue for the upcoming nuptials.

Here’s why Taylor Swift’s Rhode Island wedding plan didn’t happen

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were initially eyeing a spectacular oceanfront wedding, multiple insiders confirmed exclusively to Us Weekly.

“Taylor and Travis really wanted their wedding in Rhode Island, and June 13 was the date, but security wouldn’t have worked because it could get out of hand with that kind of scale of an event,” revealed a source.

Plans originally focused on Rhode Island, where the “Love Story” singer has an estate in Westerly’s posh Watch Hill neighborhood. Still, an insider shared that she booked venues coast to coast on separate dates.

“Ocean House [in Westerly] was planned at one point, and then plans changed to New York,” said the insider. The source further elaborated that Swift’s security team had to evaluate every venue to determine which was feasible.

“Rhode Island wasn’t great because the nature of the access and the perimeters were too difficult to secure,” they added. “So the main issue with Rhode Island ended up being security.” The source explained that the entire event was initially set for Rhode Island. However, overwhelming guest interest forced them to adjust plans as it grew larger than expected.

Though unconfirmed, NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani referenced Swift and Kelce’s current wedding location at a June 15 press briefing. Additionally, a city official briefed on planning told Us Weekly that MSG will host the ceremony on July 3. The report added that officials alerted Amtrak police, who patrol the station below MSG, to expect a wedding that weekend. Earlier this month, Winick Productions, a frequent MSG event producer, also submitted a permit request to the city’s Street Activity Permit Office.
