Instead, sources say the superstar couple initially envisioned a much more intimate celebration in Rhode Island. But as their guest list grew and security concerns mounted, those plans allegedly had to change.

According to Us Weekly, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce originally planned to marry in Rhode Island, where Swift owns a waterfront mansion in Watch Hill. One insider claimed June 13 was initially selected as the wedding date before logistics forced the couple to reconsider.
“Taylor and Travis really wanted their wedding in Rhode Island, and June 13 was the date, but security wouldn’t have worked because it could get out of hand with that kind of scale of an event,” a source told Us Weekly.
The outlet reports that Swift’s team explored multiple locations before ultimately shifting focus to New York City. “Ocean House [in Westerly] was planned at one point, and then plans changed to New York,” another insider claimed.
According to Us Weekly, security remained the deciding factor throughout the planning process. “Taylor’s security had to assess all the venues to see what made sense,” a source explained. “Rhode Island wasn’t great because the nature of the access and the perimeters were too difficult to secure. So the main issue with Rhode Island ended up being security.”
Another insider told the publication that the wedding simply outgrew the original vision. “Everything was being planned in Rhode Island,” the source said. “And so many people wanted to come that plans had to change because it became bigger.”
Rumors now point to Madison Square Garden as the possible venue for the Taylor Swift Travis Kelce wedding over the Fourth of July holiday weekend. While neither Swift nor Kelce has confirmed those reports, a permit application seeking temporary street closures around the arena has fueled speculation.
The report also noted that increased security activity around Swift’s Rhode Island estate recently sparked rumors of a possible bachelorette celebration. Meanwhile, Kelce was spotted celebrating with friends in California ahead of the couple’s rumored big day.
