Michael Rubin is setting the record straight about one of the summer’s biggest celebrity rumors. The billionaire entrepreneur says his famous White Party wasn’t rescheduled because of the reported wedding plans of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, even though he admits the timing was on his radar.
For weeks, speculation swirled that Rubin had shifted his ultra-exclusive Hamptons bash to avoid clashing with the rumored celebrity wedding. Now, the Fanatics founder has explained what really happened, and why guests won’t have to choose between two star-studded events.
Michael Rubin responds to questions linking his White Party schedule to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce wedding speculation
Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE, Rubin addressed the rumors head-on, explaining that the White Party’s July 1 date wasn’t chosen because of the reported wedding.
“We were debating the dates. We were certainly aware of that date, but we didn’t change it because of that date,” Rubin revealed. He added, “But we were aware of that date, and we didn’t want to have people have to choose.”
Although the annual White Party is traditionally associated with Fourth of July weekend, it has only actually taken place on Independence Day once since launching in 2021. This year’s celebration returns after a one-year hiatus and will once again take over Rubin’s Bridgehampton estate with an invitation-only guest list.
Rubin also brushed aside concerns that moving the event away from July 4 would dampen excitement. “People come to the White Party no matter when we do it… The White Party is going to be spectacular,” he told the outlet.
If the rumors surrounding Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding prove true, Rubin believes New York City will become the center of the entertainment world throughout early July.
“I’ll tell you one thing. I think the stars are going to be in New York from July 1 till July 19. New York’s never seen anything like this,” he said before pointing to a packed calendar that includes the White Party, the rumored Swift-Kelce wedding, Fanatics Fest, the FIFA World Cup Final, and the ESPY Awards.
Rubin is especially excited about Fanatics Fest, which returns to the Jacob Javits Center from July 16 to 19.
“What’s going to make this year so special is it’s in the middle of the World Cup Final. You have the biggest stars in the world descending to Fanatics Fest… it’s just going to be absolutely spectacular,” he told PEOPLE, adding that World Cup captains could appear just days before the championship match.
Whether or not Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce officially tie the knot over the holiday weekend remains unconfirmed.
