Miley Cyrus’s ex-boyfriend Cody Simpson said two freak accidents have left him unable to “walk or talk.” As per reports, the 29-year-old Australian pop singer suffered both a vocal cord injury and a knee dislocation in back-to-back incidents.

The singer took to Instagram on June 30 to share the update, weeks after announcing vocal cord surgery following a serious haemorrhage. Simpson wrote, “I’ve been on and off vocal rest for close to 3 months trying to heal a damaged vocal cord. We decided to operate to aid the recovery, then I dislocated my knee rehearsing for a new music video, and we had to push surgery back to let my knee settle.”
“I can’t walk or talk for some time now, and no singing or dancing for months to come,” he added. In his post, Simpson said he had been pushing his body and mind non-stop for years and is now taking time to reflect, calling it “forced rest.” He added that the album and live shows will have to wait, but he still has some work to share while he recovers. He also said he still filmed the music video despite his injury.
In May, Simpson said the haemorrhage was caused by singing through an undiagnosed sinus infection and that he was placed on two weeks of vocal rest to potentially avoid surgery, reports People. In March, he released two singles: Baby Blue and When It Comes to Loving You.
According to The Sun, the singer launched his recording career in 2009 after being discovered on YouTube by Grammy-nominated producer Shawn Campbell. He dated Miley for about 10 months, from late 2019 to August 2020, and is currently single after ending his four-year relationship with Olympian swimmer Emma McKeon in February.
