A source indicated that relations between King Charles and Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor have soured. Queen Elizabeth II’s second son, the ex-Prince, is the younger brother of King Charles III. The fallout claims follow years of public scrutiny surrounding Prince Andrew, stemming from his ties to Jeffrey Epstein and his 2019 withdrawal from public royal duties.
King Charles and ex-Prince Andrew have not spoken since the latter was stripped of his titles
King Charles’ October 2025 decision to withdraw Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s remaining royal titles and privileges left the brothers estranged. Since then, a source told Us Weekly that they “have no relationship.”
On his 66th birthday in February, Prince Andrew was taken from his Sandringham estate residence by police on suspicion of misconduct in public office. According to an insider, Charles and Andrew “haven’t spoken since” the King stripped the former Duke of York of his honors. Hello! Royal editor Emily Nash further noted that their bond is “incredibly strained.”
Scandals, sexual assault allegations, and an arrest continue to follow ex-Prince Andrew. Meanwhile, the King disapproves of his brother’s actions and mourns the shame brought on the Crown.
Per Us Weekly, King Charles believed that the former royal’s actions could seriously undermine the monarchy. “I don’t think anyone believed the king would act so decisively, but it’s to his credit that he did,” royal biographer Christopher Andersen said.
“Andrew’s downfall was inevitable,” Anderson further reflected. “To say he felt entitled to do whatever he pleased would be a gross understatement.” Additionally, Emily Nash highlighted, “Charles has come out in support of victims, and that sends a powerful message. He would like for Andrew’s scandal to not be a stain on his reign.”
However, Prince Harry and Prince William also aren’t speaking, adding another rift to the British royal family. Their relationship remains icy since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex withdrew from royal duties in 2020. So much so that no meeting between the brothers is on the schedule as Prince Harry prepares to visit the UK in July.
