King Charles Wants Prince George To Avoid His Biggest School Regrets — Source

King Charles reportedly wanted Prince George to avoid the school regrets that shaped his own royal upbringing. The monarch was said to be preparing personal guidance before George starts Eton College in September. A new source claimed Charles wanted the 13-year-old to have a “happier and more balanced” experience. The report framed the milestone around duty, independence, and the careful training of the heir already unfolding behind palace doors.

King Charles wants Prince George to ‘have a happier school experience than he had,’ per source

As per a New Idea report, Prince George’s preparation continued privately. The outlet said his path to becoming king would remain “strictly behind Palace doors.” A royal insider said Prince William and Kate had spent “the last 18 months” easing him into public life. The source said they did so “without overwhelming him.” The report also noted George, 13, will head to Eton College in September.

Meanwhile, the insider called 2025 “a pivotal year” for the young royal. The source said he started attending events “without his siblings.” That included standing in for his father with Kate at the Royal Albert Hall in November 2025. The insider also said George had been “gradually boarding at Lambrook.” That meant his “sense of independence” was already growing. Still, the source said Eton marked “a big step up in responsibilities.”

However, King Charles was reportedly including his own guidance before the move. The insider said George had become “the apple of the King’s eye.” Charles was said to be looking forward to time with him at Balmoral. The source claimed he would share “some wise parting words” before Eton College. Alongside “usual reminders of duty,” Charles reportedly wanted a happier school experience for him. The insider added that the King expected weekly updates. He was also “very pleased with Eton” for William.
