Kaitlan Collins recently sat down with Karen Finney, Hillary Clinton’s former 2016 security advisor, and former representative Adam Kinzinger to discuss Donald Trump‘s Great American State Fair. After the State Fair kicked off, an aerial image went viral that showed low attendance at Trump’s event.
On The Source, Collins commented on Trump’s rumored reaction to the lower-than-expected crowd at the State Fair. She said, “The president and his allies have taken over the events and the planning of them. When it comes to crowd expectation, though, we were told that the aerial image of the crowds from his rally last week enraged him so much that officials ended up deleting them.”
Trump kicked off the fair last week with a speech, expecting to pull a massive crowd in the coming days. However, the aerial shot shows only a handful of people at the location, reportedly frustrating Trump. The fair was organized after many artists pulled out of the now-canceled music festival Trump announced for America 250 celebrations.
While speaking to CNN, a White House official termed the fair a bad idea and stated, “I do not understand why we are doing this so late. I’m really not sure who thought this was a good idea.” CNN reported that since then, the White House has been removing images of the crowd. Another source conveyed, “The mistake here was not driving attendance. It was an ‘if you build it, they will come’ mentality that failed.”
The fair will wrap up on July 10, having commenced on June 25.
