British Politician Wades Into Donald Trump & FIFA Red Card Row

Donald Trump’s recent claim that he helped overturn a red card issued to a United States player at the FIFA World Cup has sparked fresh controversy. Adding another political twist, Labour MP Noah Law has written to FIFA President Gianni Infantino requesting that Jarell Quansah’s red card suspension also be delayed.

A British politician has entered the debate over a Donald Trump/FIFA red card controversy

Trump recently claimed he lobbied Gianni Infantino to overturn a red card during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The news immediately went viral among football fans, criticising Trump over his action. Now, the British politician and Labour MP has written to FIFA to delay Jarell Quansah’s red card suspension. He said, “I believe it would be right to delay his suspension until after the completion of this World Cup.”

He referred to Trump’s action, saying, “We know that a similar situation arose in the competition when the United States forward Folarin Balogun received a red card in the round of 32.” Further, he called out FIFA, saying the integrity of the game is not only for players, but also equally for all the participating nations.

According to The Guardian, Trump admitted on Monday that he personally asked Infantino to review the red card given to Folarin Balogun, as he believed it was unfair. The Balogun was given a red card while awkwardly stepping on an opponent’s leg during the match against Bosnia.

The Politics Global posted a copy of the letter on the X account, sharing details about the politician’s request. Soon after the post, users were quick to react. One X user said, “Every team should do it this World Cup, so that FIFA never tries this shit again in the future.” Another X user said, “FIFA has allowed a non-footballing nation and a tinpot orange-haired dictator to ruin football and its integrity. Sack Infantino immediately.”

Though FIFA has not addressed Noah Law’s letter officially, the post continues to circulate online, creating widespread debate.
