SZA took to her alternative private Instagram account to open up about her diagnosis. She wrote about her high-functioning autism diagnosis after she took a medical assessment.
Solána Rowe, on her account @notmusicatalliswear, talked about her neurodivergence. She often uses this private account to candidly talk to her fans. She posted a picture of her assessment summary, according to IB Times, which included, “Solána has qualitative impairment in reciprocal social interactions as both self-reported and observed by the examiner.”
She posted with the caption, “Finally took time and got formally diagnosed. Asperger’s/high functioning autism/ smarter than you, so stop playing in my face, as pattern recognition told, I will get to the bottom of it.”
She also added a comment under her post, saying, “Pretty sure this is why I’m taking AI so personally, BTW lol and also why I’m in every comment section.”
Soon after her post, it went viral on social media, and many women were seen sharing their own struggles, reflecting on their neurodivergent journeys.
One Reddit woman said, “As an ADHD girlie, I got ADHD vibes from her, which she has talked about previously, but autism didn’t really cross my mind. It tracks, though. ADHD is so common that there’s a heavy overlap with a lot of things between the two. I’ve been back and forth regarding myself having both.”
Another X user shared their own journey, wrote, “I lived 19 years not knowing too. It really affects my life, and barely anyone can tell. I’m also really high functioning.”
SZA has not made any public comment on the online reaction after her post, which continues to circulate online.
