Adam Sandler kept his post wedding weekend surprisingly low key after reportedly officiating Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding ceremony at Madison Square Garden. According to multiple outlets, Sandler served as the officiant during the couple’s July 3 celebration.
Less than 48 hours later, Sandler had traded wedding duties for a pickup basketball game. According to Nantucket Current, the actor called the Nantucket Police Department’s non-emergency line because he did not know where to find a local basketball court.
Public safety dispatcher Chris Reynolds told the outlet that Sandler said he was visiting the island and enjoyed playing basketball. Reynolds then directed him to the Backus Lane court off Surfside Road. Sandler later showed up at the court.
A local player told Nantucket Current that Sandler arrived by car, stretched, and joined the pickup game. The source also described his performance, saying the actor showed “great passing and playmaking,” had decent layups, but hesitated to shoot.
The Nantucket police call quickly became another unexpected detail from Sandler’s eventful weekend. People previously reported that the actor also played basketball in New York City before the reported Swift and Kelce wedding, despite the city experiencing extreme heat.
According to Reuters, Taylor Swift’s publicist confirmed that Sandler officiated the wedding, describing him as a friend of the couple. Reuters also noted that Austin Swift served as Taylor’s Man of Honor, while Jason Kelce was Travis’ Best Man.
For now, Sandler’s call to the police had a simple ending. There was no emergency involved. Instead, the actor was simply looking for a place to play basketball after his wedding responsibilities.
